Author Biography

Dr. David J. Kelley is a full professor in the Sport Administration program at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Human Services. He currently serves as the online master’s degree (MSSA) in sport administration program coordinator. Dr. Kelley has over a decade of experience as a teacher, coach, and athletic administrator in the Vinton County Local School District in McArthur, Ohio. He holds a PhD from Ohio University, a bachelor’s degree in physical education from St. Bonaventure University and a master’s degree from Syracuse University. Dr. Kelley is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) and has delivered numerous workshop presentations on revenue-generation strategies at the National Athletic Directors Conference. He is the innovator of online education tailored for interscholastic athletic administrators, in collaboration with the NIAAA Leadership Training Institute Certification Program and a class of 2026 Ohio Sports Hall of Fame inductee. Dr. Kelley teaches a range of subjects including sport finance and development; the economics of sport and sport facilities; and event management at the undergraduate level. He also teaches graduate-level applied financial management strategies in athletics. Dr. Kelley is the author of Sports Fundraising: Dynamic Methods for Schools, Universities and Youth Sport Organizations, published by Routledge in 2012. He and his wife Tami reside in Madeira, Ohio.
