Introduction
This book is designed to support the curriculum of ESL1070 Introduction to English Composition for International Students at the University of Cincinnati. The third in the sequence of five English writing and composition courses, ESL1070 emphasizes critical reading and thinking strategies, textual analysis, and rhetorical awareness during the composing process. Students learn to write with purpose, audience, context, and conventions in mind, and engage in regular self-reflection.
These multimedia materials consist original work as well as materials from open educational resources, and are tailored to the specific objectives, components, and assignments of ESL1070. The goal of developing these materials is to enhance the usability of the textbook and reduce textbook costs for international students.
This book is a work in progress. Continuous improvement will be made based on instructor and student feedback.
